1994 PORSCHE "LIMITED EDITION" 911 SPEEDSTER

THIS IS "THE REAL DEAL" SPEEDSTER MODEL DEVELOPED BY PORSCHE AS A STYLING EXERCISE INSPIRED BY THE VERY EARLY PORSCHE RACE CARS AND THE 1989 'TRIBUTE' MODEL. THEY ARE IMMEDIATELY RECOGNIZABLE AS ICONIC DUE TO THE (ALMOST UGLY) "BATHTUB" STYLING OF THE HUMP BACK. SOURCES DISAGREE ON EXACTLY HOW MANY WERE BUILT BUT, IT IS GENERALLY PUBLISHED* THAT PORSCHE BUILT 936 UNITS, 427 FOR U.S.A. PRODUCTION. THIS WAS A FINAL EDITION OF THE DROPTOP, AIR COOLED SPEEDSTERS BUILT SO, THEIR COLLECTIBILITY IS UNQUESTIONABLE. THE REINCARNATED '93-'94 PORSCHE SPEEDSTER WAS ENTIRELY DIFFERENT FROM ALL THE REST. COMPARING IT TO THE LAST EDITION (1989), WAY FEWER WERE BUILT ( PORSCHE OFFERED 2065 1989 SPEEDSTERS (1,894 IN THE WIDE BODY AND 171 IN THE RARE NARROW BODY ), 823 '89's WERE DESIGNATED U.S. CARS. THE 1994 EDITION IS SEEN AS FAR MORE UNIQUE: IT CARRIES A BIGGER MOTOR (3600CC), WITH MORE HORSEPOWER( 247 BHP), HIGHER COMPRESSION (11:3:01), TALLER REDLINE (6,700), LARGER TIRES AND WHEELS (205/50 ZR17 & 255/40 ZR17), MUCH BETTER BRAKES (ABS/ VENTED DISC), A HIGHER REAR GEAR (3:33:1= BETTER GAS MILEAGE), FASTER TOP SPEED (162 MPH TOP END), SHORTER WHEEL BASE BY A SCOOTCH (89.4") FASTER TRACK TIMES (0-60 5.7SEC, 0-100 IN 13.5SEC) AND, IT'S EVEN SHORTER IN LENGTH THEN IT'S BIG BROTHER AT 168.3". TO TOP-OFF THE WHOLE PACKAGE: LESS THAN HALF WERE BUILT THAN THE 1989'S ! BASED ON THE 964-C2 CHASSIS IT MADE ALL THE DIFFERENCE FOR A BETTER CAR. IT'S AL BET THE SAME WHEEL/ TIRE PACKAGE , AND 'DEFRILLED' COMPOSITION THAT WAS ACCORDED THE RS AMERICA (ONLY 201 OF THOSE WERE BUILT) YET, IT'S AN EVEN MORE DESIRABLE DROPTOP! THE PORSCHE 911 SPEEDSTER CARRIES CONSIDERABLE CHANGES OF IT'S OWN: A MUCH IMPROVED/ STRENGTHENED WINDSHIELD, LESS CHEESY LOOKING COCKPIT (CLAMSHELL) COVER AND AN EASIER-TO-MANAGE SOFT TOP ( '89 MODEL HAD A NIGHTMARE 'ERECTOR SET' SOFT TOP ).

THOUGH THE PAINT COLORS WERE LIMITED TO RED, WHITE AND BLACK.... THE COCKPIT WAS DRESSED UP CONSIDERABLY BY SWATCHES OF COLOR CORRESPONDING TO THE BODY: THE GAUGE PANEL, SEAT BACKS (SOMETIMES EVEN THE SEATBELTS) AND GEAR LEVER / BOOT WERE ALL BLESSED WITH A CORRESPONDING SWIPE OF COLOR.. YOU COULD ALSO ORDER THE "MULTI-COLORED INTERIOR PACKAGE" AND GET SEAT FACES BATHED IN TWO-TONE LUXURIOUS LEATHER. STANDARD EQUIPMENT WAS A 'RIGID' TONNEAU COVER, FOGLIGHTS, TWO SEATS W/ PACKAGE SHELF, HALOGEN HEADLIGHTS, SPEED EXTENDED SPOILER, HEATED WINDSHIELD, TINTED GLASS, BODY MATCHED WHEELS, AIRBAGS, 3-PT. SEATBELTS, LEATHER COVERED STEERING WHEEL, ANALOG INSTRUMENTATION WITH FULL GAUGES, POWER WINDOWS, SUN VISOR MIRRORS, CENTRAL LOCKING & ALARM, 4 RADIO SPEAKERS (NO RADIO) AND A 10 YEAR WARRANTY. OTHER OPTIONAL EXTRA'S INCLUDED AIR CONDITIONING, AM/FM STEREO, SPORT SEATS BY RECARO, CRUISE CONTROL, 'LIGHTWEIGHT' COLOR-COORDINATED DOOR PANELS, VELOUR (FUZZY) TRUNK CARPET, LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL, REGULAR CARRERA SEATING (FOR WIDE BUTTS),AND COLOR DELETE WHEELS. ALSO AVAILABLE ( NOT OPTIONED ON THIS CAR: TIPTRONIC TRANSMISSION, CAPT. VIDEO "POCKET COMMANDER" CELLPHONE AND COMPUTER INFORMATION CENTER. THESE CARS WEREN'T JUST ABOUT LOOKS THEY COULD BREECH 60 M.P.H. IN JUST 5.7 SEC AND CONQUER THE 1/4 MILE IN 14.1 SEC AT 103 M.P.H. HANDLING WAS AN INCREDIBLE 0.90G'S. THOUGH SOME SOURCES CLAIM "IT WAS CHEAPER" THAN IT'S 5 YEAR OLDER BIG BROTHER AT $66,400 BASE PRICE + OPTIONS, IN ACTUALITY IT WAS $1,000 MORE.

WITH IT'S SUPER LIMITED EDITION, UNIQUE LOOK AND HIDE N' SEEK, "GO FIND ONE" NATURE (ESPECIALLY WITH LOW MILEAGE) IT'S SURE TO FOLLOW IN THE SAME FOOTSTEPS OF IT'S HOMELY 356 STEP SISTER, AND 911 HUMPBACK BROTHER, IN VALUE. I BOUGHT THREE '89'S WHEN THEY WERE INTRODUCED ONLY TO WATCH THEM RISE LIKE A ROCKET, FALL LIKE A STONE, AND THEN 14 YEARS LATER, SOAR LIKE AN EAGLE AGAIN. WE ADDED THIS FLAMBOYANT RED BEAUTY (SAME AS THE SHOWROOM LITERATURE COVER CAR) TO OUR PERMANENT COLLECTION. SEE THE ORIGINAL, MATCHING SHOWROOM BROCHURE.
