 2013 CHEVROLET AVALANCHE

Its rugged, its plush, it can haul the entire family while pulling just about anything you can name, it carries an amazing 8'3" bed -
and.... is incredibly versatile.
The last Avalanche rolled off the assembly line in 2013 and took with it another Legend in Automotive History. Beginning in 2001 with an 'ugly rubber duckling'(in our eyes), it morphed into a really fantastic, beautiful Swan.
Based on the overwhelming reception and appeal of the 2001 Avalanche, Chevrolet then began building a Light Duty 'Crew-Cab' truck Series the whole family could use. By 2003 'Crew Cabs' were occupying 65% of the Light Truck marketplace (in reality International Harvester was the First in 1957 to build Full-Size , with Land Rover introducing their Light Truck version in 1987). That 'Giant Cab Look' never appealed to us so, I kept waiting to replace my specially ordered 1999 LS 'Sportside' 2WD, Reg. Cab 5.3 V8/ 4 Wheel Disc Brakes, w/ Bucket seats & Console Pickup.... hoping that Chevrolet would again build the duplicate (sadly, not offered since 2005). Finally, I gave up and bought a Cadillac Escalade EXT.
The real surprise for me was, having also owned the EXT, I found they are duplicates in size. The diff  being the Caddie carries a much larger gas-swallowing V8 with All-Wheel Drive with Chevy offering BOTH 2WD and 4WD. Both Cad & Chevy carried the
Six-Speed Transmission. This is the 2WD version (MUCH better gas mileage) The Chevrolet Avalanche promised 21 mpg Hwy. while, Cadillac bragged on 18mpg.  This vehicle is compatible with the new Flex Fuel and does respond with that Super Luxury Ride. Incidentally, It DOES ride as good as a Bentley.

Enter the 2013 Avalanche "Black Diamond Edition". This is Chevrolet's Final Edition and Kiss Goodbye to a car that offers unique capabilities, rides exactly like the Cadillac Escalade , and offers triple the features over any competition. A Luxury Cruiser that will carry a family of 5 or, with the drop of the Midgate, a huge load from any of the Big Box Stores. What other Light Duty Truck can you name that will carry a 4x8' sheet of Plywood or Sheet Rock?

Every 2013 Avalanche was adorned with the 'Black Diamond' Badge and came
with a Rear Vision Camera System (inside mirror camera display), new Body-Color Exterior Cladding (just like the Escalade EXT), Cruise Control, Tire Pressure Monitor, Steering Wheel Controls,  AM/FM/CD, Bucket Seats, Luggage Rack Side Rails, Power Windows (Drivers Express) Power Adjustable Pedals, Bluetooth, Ultrasonic Rear Parking Assist, Remote Vehicle Starter System, Power-adjustable Pedals, Foglamps and a whole host of other features, like Halon Lights and a Rear Bed Rubber Mat... most ALL of which were "extra-cost options" on the other marques. So, given the features vs. price points~ the Chevy won hands-down.
Shopping the competition, we were surprised to find dead-on, comparable trucks were $50,000+ and couldn't find myself driving the Fiat owned Chrysler-Dodge or a Ford. A trip to Toyota lacked a competitive truck with the 5.7 litre Tundra offered in just about every way.. EXCEPT the way I wanted. Nissan and Honda's offering were both dated looking.
Arriving back at the Chevrolet Dealerships; we found the Avalanche cargo box features a lockable tailgate, rubber bed mats, rigid tonneau cover  (Optional with ANY other truck offered) and top box storage in the flanks. Like I mentioned earlier, it has a 50-inch-wide cargo bed and offers 45.5 cubic feet of cargo 15. 4 Cargo and load capacity (limited only by weight and distribution).  When it comes to storage capacity, there was no comparison. Avalanche has the largest light duty trunk in the 14. 5 Based on vehicles with lockable trunks separate from the passenger compartment.
The ingenious Midgate transforms Chevy Avalanche from a five-or six-passenger 8.3 Depending on model to a full-size pickup truck. The conversion is easy: Just lower the 60/40 split-folding rear bench seat. From there, the Midgate can be lowered for a secured cargo area, or the rear window and three-piece tonneau cargo cover can be removed for more room to transport larger items.

This LS model was built in Black Onyx with Black Interior and features Reclining Seats, Dual A.C., and the "All Star Package", which includes the fancier 20" Polished Chrome-Style wheels, Chrome Mesh Grille, XM Radio, 3:42 (not 3:90) Positraction, H.D. Towing Package with Tow Feature Transmission & Cooler, Power Folding Heated Mirrors w/ Turn Signals, and Power Seats (both sides).   We added over $1000 in extra chrome: the Chrome Window Visors, Chrome Side Trim, Chrome Mirror Caps, Chrome Headlight Trim, Chrome Gas Cap Cover, Chrome Door Caps, & Tail Light Surrounds, Chrome Bug Guard, Dash Badge and, even more "Special Edition" Badging.

After looking at all the competition, this was an easy choice. Garaged all it's life  by a non-smoker. Only 5,026 miles and JUST $38,500 buys it.  SOLD-SOLD-SOLD
