THE SHORT STORY
The 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 defines 'The Hippie Era'. The exact time this car was born The Beatles went solo and created APPLE Records. "Peace, Love and Happiness" became the Chant of the Youth. "Woodstock", "Altamont" and "Atlanta Pop Festival" drew record crowds. It saw the Best Rock 'n Roll, the Sexual Revolution and widespread use of Drugs..the Last of the Peace Movement. ALL were a part of what makes the Z/28 Camaro, like the '57 Chevy...an Enduring Legend.

HISTORY:
T
he Late Sixties were very ''active times" when American's gained their Miranda Rights through the Supreme Court, the First Heart Transplant was performed, "The Graduate" (with Dustin Hoffman) packed the Movie Houses, America was head-first in the Vietnam War, North Koreans seized ' the Pueblo' Navy Gunship, "Hair" the Nude Musical packed Auditoriums all over the United States, and the Beatles, bored with Touring, went to India to be enlightened by the Mararishi Maresh while his Evolution of Life  perfectlytuned-in with 'The Times'. But, the Big News will always be remembered as Apollo 11 landing on the Moon, "Big Bird" making his First Appearance on Children's Television, the Woodstock Music, Atlanta Pop Festival and the Rolling's Stone's ill fated 'Altamont Concert' taking place, Gay Liberation making it's first appearance, Dwight Eisenhower passed away along with Brian Jones (Rolling Stones) and Viet Nam's Ho Chi Minh. The first Jumbo Jet (747) would take to the Skies, Penthouse Magazine would be introduced by it's First Issue (knocking on Playboy's backdoor) exposing the additional bonus of the Nether Region for it's reader's, while Yale University would graduate it's First Female Undergraduate, Automatic Teller Machines would soon be erected on every corner (1st being Chemical Bank, New York City), the Cuyaghoga River in Ohio would catch on fire ( saturated with oil-coal from local Industry), and the gag-able "Brady Bunch" would log-on it's very first TV Sitcom Show....all in 1969.

There's not much we can tell you about the 1969 Camaro you probably don't already know. There's little doubt they are The Next 'Super Collectible' much like the phennemon experienced over the last 20 years by the 1957 Chevrolet. Even General Motorsbuilt a Concept Car that is a 'dead ringer' of the 1969 Camaro body style and then released it in 2008. It is surely to be an Icon for Centuries to come. However, when all is said and done, one must ascertain which model would be the Most Valuable, Most Collectible?? It doesn't take a Rocket Scientist to narrow it down quickly to the COPO,and  Z-28 (only 20,302 built) or a loaded Rally Sport / Super Sport (37,868 made). The Z/28 was Chevrolets version of a Race Car for the Street and it really wasn't well advertised or talked about in small towns across America unless you subscribed to National Magazines or lived in the Big Cities. In fact, living in West Palm Beach, Florida I never even saw one offered for sale 'new' in '69. The First Two Years they weren't even listed in the Factory Showroom Brochure .... by 1969. [ They got a brief mention in the back of the Brochure ( Exposure: 1967-0, 1968 - had a separate Black & White hand leaflet, 1969- back of brochure].
If you drive a Z 28 for the First Time, the lower end performance can seem disappointing (unless you have the 4:10 rear), all the revs are at the high end. However, once it get's up steam- hold on!
If you are lucky enough to have the Crossram Version, the car idles at 1,300 rpm and you're in for a 458 hp Rocket Ride. The 1969 Zee handles like a dream and exhibit's 'The Sportscar Feel' that made them famous on the Race Track that very same year. Most were ordered by Dealer's pretty 'Bare Bones' and it's always a Treasure to see one loaded with a bundle of options! Fact is: I've only seen one Zee Car with Power Windows...ever, and, in the old days, you didn't see a lot of the (original) Deluxe 'Comfort Weave' Interior. Now with all the Camaro Parts Houses, they are common. Despite the fact nearly every Z-28 for sale today features the 'Cowl Induction Hood' few actually came that way from the Factory. In fact only 10,026 were built with the ZL-2 Hood. If the car could talk it would tell you..... the Dealer, or some 'caring' individual 'added' it during it's life. In fact, many don't even have the correct 'plumbing' to make them function ( a sure indication it wasn't born that way! -  I find the Z/28 is one of a handful of "pocket rocket's" Factory Made and an Excellent Investment for a
'blast from the past' ride. We look for unusual (in a Sea of Lemans Blue/ Hugger Orange/ Cortez Silver Zee's) and we think we found it in this one. This car in a field of competition, will stand out from the rest as 'unique' and a real trophy winner. I sold this car 9 years ago to a Collector in Tampa and bought it back. It is flat-amazing condition, only driven 1,826 miles since sold.
